Here’s when the plugin makes that call

When you search any query it counts as 1 request per page

A download counts as 1 request.

A query into the license cost of an image counts as 1 request

There are a few things to be added:

If you do not refresh the page the search is cached, so if you want to search the same thing again, it will work instantly and you will not consume a request

Searches load automatically as you scroll to fill the page. This is the same as how the native media library does it. If you have a large screen you will load 2 pages when you search. That is because the provider does not have an answer but a call is still made.

When the quota is reached, you will get a timer that will show you how much time you will have to wait for the queries.
